Finding God

Finding God:  the simple plan provided by Jesus Christ

Jesus: “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” -Matthew 1:28

Acts 17:27 “they should seek the Lord and find him, though he be not far from every one of us.”
Speaking of Jesus, the Bible declares, “There is salvation in no other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” – Acts 4:12
Most times we think we’re okay. But God looks at the heart of mankind and says otherwise.
“all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. -Rom.3:23
“If we say that we have not sinned, we make God a liar, and his word is not in us.” -I John 1:10
“You must be born again.” -Jn.3:7
CONFESS YOUR SINS TO GOD. Confession also means forsaking sin.
“He that covers his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.” -Proverbs 28:13
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” -I John 1:9
“whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” -Romans 10:13
TRUST GOD TO FORGIVE YOU. Don’t trust your good works or your own ability. Simply believe that God will do what He has promised.
“he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them who diligently seek him.” -Hebrews 11:6
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” -I John 1:9
“It is impossible for God to lie.” -Hebrews 6:18
Read the Bible Daily:
This will aid your new-found faith.  A suggestion may be to start reading the Gospel of John in the New Testament.
Pray Every Day:
Set aside daily time with God.  Ask for His help through temptations and seek His guidance of how He wants you to live your new life in Jesus.
Faithfully attend a Bible-believing church.
Worship with other believers will boost your faith, encourage you Heavenward, and keep you in the way of sound doctrine.  If possible, we encourage and welcome your attendance here at Twin Oaks.
Expect Temptation:
The devil will not be thrilled in losing you from his kingdom. He will attempt to flirt you back into his grasp. The Bible, prayer, and worship with others will all help you defeat the devil.  Remember, temptation is not sin – only yielding to it is sinful.  Furthermore, Jesus has promised to help you if you will rely upon His strength; see II Cor.10:13.
Let us know of your new victory.
We’d love to rejoice with you.
Helpful Hints:
If you are willing to be a true follower of Jesus – to obey Him and let Him call the shots – it will simplify the entire process of finding God. Rebellion towards Him will create numerous distracting issues.  Simply surrender your sins, excuses, etc. to God.  He’ll gladly do the rest.
Emotion may or may not accompany God’s forgiveness.  However, either way, God will surely let you know of your standing with Him.
Don’t let the devil try to tell you that it is difficult to find God.  Simply believe God’s promises presented on this page, surrender your sinfulness to Him, and He will take you like a shepherd takes a hurting lamb!
“God has given unto us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” -I John 5:11,12
